Ally, Mother of Georgie May

From the moment my partner and I found out we were pregnant, I knew I'd like some support with the eventual birth of our first baby.

I started thoroughly researching different options. Birthing classes were not really our thing (they were mainly online since co-vid ) so I searched elsewhere. It didn’t take long to find the lovely Doula Krista, and I jumped on board to ask if she would help us in this new phase of our lives. What an amazing lady! So much valuable information, support and care was given, she is one beautiful soul. I had no knowledge about babies or pregnancy, so i read the books she lent me, (there are so many, so it was nice to have handpicked, valuable ones from my Doula) and also the online websites she shared, and i learnt so much. From helping me decide what birth plan i eventually wanted, to helping me through a few hurdles, ie: co-vid's rules/restrictions of One support person allowed, (can you imagine!) & pressure of an early induction, I was able to have a beautiful relaxed pregnancy.

I could make informed decisions to say 'no' to being induced at 38 weeks, to having an oxytocin drip inserted less than an hour after my waters broke to speed things up, and to take time to feel what my body was ready for. 'Spinning babies' helped get baby in the right position and all the other fitness regimes helped relax my body.

I am also beyond grateful to you for being there in the early hours, and all through the labour. We saw many midwifery shift changes during those two days!

Without your help I wouldn't have been the person i am today. Things would have gone so differently, I would have just done what I was told, been rushed through, stayed confused with all the technical words & terms used and come out on the other side not as strong a mother for our little girl. Giving birth is a marathon, and what better leader cheering me on than you, Krista!
