Hello, nice to virtually meet you! My name is Krista and I am a certified birth and postnatal doula based in Northern Tasmania. My primary role is to encourage, educate and help grow a mother’s self-confidence— to make sure she is surrounded by a caring and nurturing energy throughout every stage of birth.

For as long as I can remember I have always had a real passion and interest in birth, having had a family of my own as well as welcoming three precious granddaughters. When the opportunity came to train as a professional pregnancy, birth and postnatal doula, I knew my heart had found a home and I have been helping families through their birthing journeys ever since.

I received my birth and postnatal certification with The Australian Doula College and The Newborn Mothers Collective. I love learning and continue my professional development by attending various courses, seminars and professional meetups, adding skills to enhance my service and making sure that I keep my information and practice up to date. As well as my doula training, I also hold certificates in Acupressure, Optimal Maternal Positioning (OMP) and Spinning Babies® techniques and am familiar with the content and teachings of She Births®, Calm Birth and Hypnobirthing Australia. I am a proud Member of the Doula Network of Australia and am currently the Tasmanian State Representative.

My aim is not to make pregnancy or birth seem overwhelming, as it is truly such a special time in a women’s life, and there are lots of natural ways we will work together to make your pregnancy and labour as comfortable and as self-empowering as possible.

There is so much to look forward to! But one part of my role as your doula is to make sure that you do have options and that if you are after information, I can safely guide you in the right direction. My wish is that my clients feel informed, confident and prepared for pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

Starting out as a birth doula, I came to realise the importance of not only birth but also how much support was also needed for new mothers once they were home with their babies. As a pre and postnatal doula, I also help new mothers avoid feeling tired and overwhelmed, supporting them to trust themselves and enjoy the early days. A big part of my role is to “mother the mother” and ensure she, and the family, are well nourished, cared for and at ease in their role— bringing with it a postnatal period filled with peace and joy. You can read more about my postnatal support here.

I am so looking forward to supporting each and every one of you as you venture on your own unique birth journey. It is such an honour and a privilege for me to share in your joy as you welcome your beautiful babies into the world. These are exciting times, and I can promise you that all the work that goes into preparing for a positive birth and peaceful postpartum experience will see you transition into your new roles as mothers with confidence and feelings of peace and joy.

You’re worth investing in. The health of our families depends on it.

Love, Krista xxx
