ABOUT ME

EXPERIENCE

Hello, my name is Krista. I am a certified birth and postnatal doula based in Northern Tasmania. I am an extremely knowledgeable, passionate and unbiased professional who is trained in birth support.

My husband John and I have been married for 26 years. When I married John, not only did gain a husband, I had the pleasure of gaining a beautiful step daughter and step son. Together, we bought three more delightful children into the world: a son and two daughters. Over the past three years our family has grown even more as we have welcomed two precious granddaughters who have stolen our hearts.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a real passion and interest in birth. When the opportunity came to train as a professional pregnancy, birth and postnatal doula, I knew my heart had found a home. For the past two years, I have been helping families throughout their birthing journeys.

As a doula my primary role is to encourage and help grow the birthing woman’s self-confidence – to make sure she is surrounded by a caring and nurturing energy. Providing a continuity of care means “holding the space” for the birthing mother and her partner. Only with trust, faith and support can a woman allow the birth experience to enlighten and empower her. Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, mind and body for the rest of your life. Knowing you have the right team around you makes the world of difference.

One of the most important aspects to birth is that when a baby is born, so is a mother. As a newborn mother your heart is wide open, you are sensitive, you are brand new. As part of my services, I help new mothers avoid feeling tired and overwhelmed, supporting them to trust themselves and enjoy these early days. A big part of my role is to “mother the mother” and ensure you are well nourished, cared for and at ease in your new role – bringing with it a postnatal period filled with peace and joy.

Whether you’re expecting your first or considering a doula for your next baby, I'd love to meet you. I wish you all a beautiful and joyful birth!
